Covers Nelson and Kaslo outreach areas. Flexible work week.
Under the general direction of the Senior Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), the position provides family-centered speech & language services to children from birth to school entry and their families. Responsibilities include the provision of a full range of clinical services, community consultation and education, and implementation of a population health approach targeting primary prevention activities and promotion of healthy communication in the general population.
Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a recognized university
• Eligible for membership with the Canadian Association of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (CASLPA)
• Current valid BC Driver’s License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of SLP diagnostic and therapeutic materials/procedures relevant to the preschool-aged population
• Specialized knowledge of early child development and principles of family-centered service
• Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
• Ability to manage ongoing purposeful change
• Ability to use a computer and work effectively in a Windows operating environment including specific Speech pathology software
• Ability to operate related equipment
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
