EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – BC FAMILY HEARING RESOURCE SOCIETY (BCFHRS)
This exciting opportunity will find you responsible for the BCFHRS, leading a staff of 20 through the ongoing development of proven, internationally-known services for deaf and hard of hearing children between birth and age five and their families in British Columbia, Canada.
Your efforts will encompass a broad continuum of health, education and intervention services based on family-centered, coordinated, integrated and efficient approaches. Of paramount importance will be your ability to recognize and analyze the current and future requirements of the Society and the families we serve.
You will successfully plan and implement collaboratively with the Board of Directors strategies that will ensure the Society’s future growth and its development into a Center of Excellence. Your leadership will be supported by the Director of Administration and a strong office staff.
Through communication and collaboration with all staff, directors and key stakeholders you will build effective relationships to enable optimum coordination, best practice and continuous improvement. Your passion for this field of work will be felt widely, as you enjoy a rewarding career path and a mandate that truly makes a difference in the lives of deaf and hard of hearing children and their families.
Your leadership skills are backed by professional education in this field with both clinical and management experience in early intervention with very young deaf and hard of hearing children and their families. Your experience has taught you not to be biased towards any particular approach to communication. Through experience in programs for special needs children and further experience in problem solving, strategic planning and family-centered services for families with a hearing loss, you have the working knowledge for continued success in this position. Strong negotiation and organization skills round out your background.
